When I first arrived in my village there were three library's- one at each of the schools and one public library. At about my two month mark the public library was combined with the Primary School's by simply throwing all of the books into an old and dusty room, hardly the positive environment needed to motivate children to read. With the combined effort of teachers, principal, and myself we decided to truly update the room and give my village's residents a real library.

Below are pictures of the combined space. The majority of books on the shelves are molded, dust ridden, and cockroach eaten.

The first step was to gather donations. I contacted numerous individuals in the United States to ask for their support. After a great response, an organization called Good News agreed to ship the boxes. After, quite some time, numerous others joined the team, a plan was drawn up, and a floor plan designed. At this time I would like to thank the following groups and individuals that donated supplies, books, resource materials, paint, and so much more:

Good News            Delta Kappa Gamma                 Judy W.                    City Year Boston

Sloan's Community Church                 I-I Circle K                Grace T.                  Batavia High School

In early February, the Good News crew built us a wall to divide the adult and children's sections and then we began to paint.

Letter 1: Greetings in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, We are indeed grateful for how you helped beautify our library so that more children would be influenced to come to the library to read a book. Once again, thanks.

Letter 2: Greetings to you all in Jesus name. I hope that you are all fine and that this letter meets you all in great health. This letter was written in order to show our gratitude and thanks for all the things that you have done here at the Castle Bruce Primary School.

First of all, we would like to thank you for the framing of the shelves in our library. It was very helpful to us. We would also like to thank you for the donation of the paint. It will come in handy in beautifying our library. Last but not least, we would like to thank you for the donation of the books to our school. It is being very helpful to the students in the aspect of reading.

Oh! and we are working on the challenge that you gave us a few days before you left. We hope we make you proud. Once again, Thank you!
